FAQ

Is the forest currently open?

We are located in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest (ASNF).  Please visit fs.usda.gov/asnf for more information about possible forest closures.

You can also check our instagram for information updates as well.

What are your Hours?

We are open 7 days a week. April 1st thru October 31st

8am-5pm Monday- Thursday and 8am-6pm Friday and Saturday.

When do the campgrounds open?

The campgrounds are operated by Thousand Trails Company and open May 1st of each season.

How can I rent in the campground? How can I reserve a campground?

We do not manage campgrounds. They are managed by Thousand Trails. Please go to ReserveUSA.com

Is there a hiking trail around the lake? How Long is it and How Hard?

Yes, the trail is 5.2 miles around the lake, on average it takes about 2 hours to complete. The hiking trail is rated easy to medium.

Is it a swimming lake?

No, Woods Canyon Lake is managed as a trout fishery. Some people swim in the lake but it is not recommended.

Is there Free Camping?

Yes, Dispersed camping is available on the Forest Rd 300 west of Woods Canyon Lake.

Where Can I Park?

Parking is Free in the lower lot, Store lot and in the Overflow lot. A small fee is charged for entrance into the Rocky Point picnic area.

Facts:

*There are bathrooms located in parking lots and campgrounds and do not have running water.

*There are no public trash cans. Pack it in, pack it out. Thousand Trails has a dump station for trash and Rv’s for a fee.

*There is no phone line or cell phone service at the store.

*The closest gas station is 10 miles away in Forest Lakes.

*The store parking lot closes at 7pm.
